About Guruvayoor Krishna Temple, Guruvayur

About the Guruvayoor Krishna  Temple:

It is believed that Lord Sri Krishna installed the murti which is now installed in the sanctum at Guruvayur, in his city of Dwaraka during the Dwapara Yuga and worshipped it himself. At the time of swargaarohana Krishna instructed his devotee Uddhava to install the idol at a sacred place with the help of Brihaspathi, the guru of the Devas and Vayu, the God of the winds. Guru and Vayu took the idol and came down to Kerala and installed it. This is why the place got its name Guruvayur. Sri Narada purana describes how Janamejaya, son of Parikshit and descendant of the Pandavas, was cured of leprosy by taking refuge under the feet of Guruvayuruppa. Lord Guruvayurappa is famous for healing people from all diseases. The poet saint Melpathur Narayana Bhattathiri composed a condensed version of Srimad Bhagavatam in this temple to overcome his chronic ailment. This beautiful work of 1,000 verses is today known as the Narayaneeyam and is chanted in many households with prayers for good health, prosperity, progeny, marital harmony etc. Lord Guruvayurappa himself is said to have endorsed the Narayaneeyam by appreciating this work. Offer pooja to Lord Guruvayurappan through Parihara.com and receive His divine grace in abundance.

About the Temple Pooja:

  1. Date of Conducting: Please select a date for us to conduct the temple pooja. Date must be atleast 3 days away to give us to time to organize the pooja. We will try our best to perform the pooja on that particular day, but in a small number of cases, we may have to perform it on another day due to heavy rush or untimely payment confirmation, etc.
  2. Names of People: Apart from your name, you can mention a total of 3 other family member's names and everyone's star (nakshatra). If star is unknown, please provide us your date, time and place of birth and we will find your janam nakshatra. The pooja at the temple will be conducted on behalf of the names given by you by the pandit ji.
  3. Proof: When ordering poojas through Atoot.com, we understand that you would like proof. As proof, we send you prasad from the pooja, as well as visual proof - Our first preference will be video, second will be photographs, and last preference will be a temple receipt. The reason for this is that while we try to get photos or videos, many temples do not allow any cameras inside. In  such cases, we will instead go to the temple office and get a pooja receipt for you as replacement to the photographs.
  4. Prasadam: Prasad will be shipped within 3 days of the Pooja being performed. Note that certain consumable items cannot be shipped properly, and these (if any) will be donated to poor people at the temple. You shall receive at the minimum vibuthi (sacred ash), and kumkum (saffron), and in most cases (depending on temple) should receive Mishri (sugar crystals)
  5. Courier: You can track your couriered prasad online. It should take 2-3 working days within India and 1-3 weeks for international couriers

Please submit an email enquiry or call us at our number above if you have any additional questions regarding this temple pooja.
