About Kuchanur Sani Temple, Theni

About the Kuchanur Sani Temple:

The ancient temple of Kuchanur Sani is dedicated exclusively to Sani Bhagwan (Shani Dev). Located in the Theni district of Tamil Nadu, the Kuchanur Sani temple has a reputation of being as important as the Shani Temple in Thirunallar.

There are 2 separate myths about this temple. One mythology behind this Sani temple is that this is the place where Shani Dev got relieved of the Brahmmahatya Yoga (also known as Brahmahati Yoga - affecting a person who commits a serious crime). It is said that a Shivling was growing upwards here, and by applying turmeric to it, its growth was controlled.

The second story about the Kuchanur Sani Temple goes such that King Dinakaran who once ruled Kalinganadu incurred the wrath of Sani Dev for 7 1/2 years. His son, Chandiravadanan, found out about this through an astrologer and sat on a penance in the dense forests near the bank of the Surabi River. Shani Dev (Lord Saniswara) was very much moved by his prayers and granted him his wish of setting his father free from the curse. This temple was created at the place he prayed.

People who pray at the Kuchanur Sani Temple are said to get relief from the malefic effects of Shani (Saturn planet) in their Kundli. Prayers will also bring relief to those suffering from Brahmmahatya Yoga.

While praying to Shani Dev is always good for us, for additional technical understanding of whether you are affected by Shani or if a pooja at Kuchanur Sani Temple will bring you relief, or for alternate remedies, you are advised to use the Shani Influence Report by Acharya ji.

About the Kuchanur Sani Temple Pooja:

  1. Date of Conducting: Please select a date for us to conduct the temple pooja. Date must be atleast 3 days away to give us to time to organize the pooja. We will try our best to perform the pooja on that particular day, but in a small number of cases, we may have to perform it on another day due to heavy rush or untimely payment confirmation, etc.
  2. Names of People: Apart from your name, you can mention a total of 3 other family member's names and everyone's star (nakshatra). If star is unknown, please provide us your date, time and place of birth and we will find your janam nakshatra. The pooja at the temple will be conducted on behalf of the names given by you by the pandit ji.
  3. Proof: If you would like proof of the pooja, you can additionally select the option for proof while ordering. First preference will be video, Second will be photographs, and Last preference will be a temple receipt. The reason is that while we try to get photos or videos, many temples do not allow any cameras inside. In  such cases, we will instead go to the temple office and get a pooja receipt for you as replacement to the photographs.
  4. Prasadam: Prasad will be shipped within 3 days of the Pooja being performed. Note that certain consumable items cannot be shipped properly, and these (if any) will be donated to poor people at the temple. You shall receive at the minimum vibuthi (sacred ash), and kumkum (saffron), and in most cases (depending on temple) should receive Mishri (sugar crystals)
  5. Courier: You can track your couriered prasad online. It should take 2-3 working days within India and 1-3 weeks for international couriers

Please submit an email enquiry or call us at our number above if you have any additional questions regarding this temple pooja.
