About Shani Shingnapur

About Shani Shingnapur:

The ancient temple of Shani Shingnapur is said to exist from atleast the start of Kalyug, but could also be from before that. Located in this small village in Nevasa Taluka (Ahmednagar District of Maharashtra), this temple is about 65 kms from Shridi, and is visited by lakhs of people every day!

The actual shrine of Shani Dev at Shani Shingnapur is simply a five and a half feet black rock in an open-air platform, which symbolize Shani Dev, along with a Trishul and the image of a bull (Nandi) on its sides, and idols of Lord Shiva and Hanuman in the front.

Another interesting thing about this temple is that there is such faith in Shani Dev and his wrath such that this is the only town in the world with no doors and locks (only door frames). Theft is said to incur god's wrath and thieves don't dare steal here.

Recently, in January 2011, UCO Bank opened a branch in Shani Shingnapur - the bank has no locks! However, due to RBI rules in India, the bank is forced to have doors (which it always leaves open...)

Pooja at Shani Shingnapur or Shani Shingnapur darshan is said to please Shani Dev and remove any obstacles that one may be facing. Similarly, people facing astrological effects of Shani are also advised to offer pooja at Shani Shingnapur.

While praying to Shani Dev is always good for us, for additional technical understanding of whether you are affected by Shani or if a pooja at Shani Shingnapur will bring you relief, or for alternate remedies, you are advised to use the Shani Influence Report by Acharya ji.

About the Temple Pooja:

  1. Date of Conducting: Please select a date for us to conduct the temple pooja. Date must be atleast 3 days away to give us to time to organize the pooja. We will try our best to perform the pooja on that particular day, but in a small number of cases, we may have to perform it on another day due to heavy rush or untimely payment confirmation, etc.
  2. Names of People: Apart from your name, you can mention a total of 3 other family member's names and everyone's star (nakshatra). If star is unknown, please provide us your date, time and place of birth and we will find your janam nakshatra. The pooja at the temple will be conducted on behalf of the names given by you by the pandit ji.
  3. Proof: When ordering poojas through Atoot.com, we understand that you would like proof. As proof, we send you prasad from the pooja, as well as visual proof - Our first preference will be video, second will be photographs, and last preference will be a temple receipt. The reason for this is that while we try to get photos or videos, many temples do not allow any cameras inside. In  such cases, we will instead go to the temple office and get a pooja receipt for you as replacement to the photographs.
  4. Prasadam: Prasad will be shipped within 3 days of the Pooja being performed. Note that certain consumable items cannot be shipped properly, and these (if any) will be donated to poor people at the temple. You shall receive at the minimum vibuthi (sacred ash), and kumkum (saffron), and in most cases (depending on temple) should receive Mishri (sugar crystals)
  5. Courier: You can track your couriered prasad online. It should take 2-3 working days within India and 1-3 weeks for international couriers

Please submit an email enquiry or call us at our number above if you have any additional questions regarding this temple pooja.
