Lord Buddha, the most supreme deity for the followers of Buddhism, is believed to be the ninth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, the Hindu deity who is considered to be the preserver of existence. Lord Buddha is credited as the founder of the Buddhism religion. According to prominent legends, he was born as Siddhartha to the royal couple of Suddhodana and Maya Devi in Lumbini (Nepal) in 560 BC. Later, he gained popularity as Gautama Buddha.

He defines himself quite precisely with his name, which refers for ‘the most enlightened one’. He in fact was the most enlightened one. At a very early age, he realized that life if nothing more than a myth, and out of that realization, he renounced the world at an early age of twenty years. In search of salvation, he left his home and his wife. He spread out the principles of non-violence (Ahimsa) and right conduct (Dharma) amongst masses. In the path of his search, he eventually attained enlightenment in Bodh Gaya (India). He passed away in 480 BC when he was eighty years old.
